Rasayans Rasayan is a Sanskrit word which may be translated as rejuvenating or that which can help restore a youthful state of physical and mental health, as well as enhancing ones feeling of well-being. Ayurvedic Rasayans are prepared in accordance with the traditional Vedic standards practiced for thousands of years. They are made of natural ingredients, using only the best Ayurvedic spices, ghee, honey, and Sharkara, along with many different medicinal herbs. These special formulations are still prepared today in the same way as they were thousands of years ago, namely using utensils made of copper, iron and clay. Highly nutritious and antioxidant in nature, Rasayans provide many trace elements which are lacking in our modern diet. To maintain optimal mental and physical health, Rasayans should be consumed regularly as a health food.
Avalehas Avaleha is made from fruit pulp (main herbal ingredient) and a decoction of different herbal ingredients with sugar and ayurvedic ghee. The fruit pulp and the decoction are boiled until a paste-like consistency is achieved resulting in a preparation which is similar to modern jams. The proportion of different herbs and the sequence vary according to the preparation method. In some avalehas, honey and different herbal powders could be added may be added at a later stage.
Kalpas A special preparation in accordance with ancient ayurvedic texts. Some herbs, when taken alone, may be unpalatable because of their strong taste and aroma. Nevertheless, they have to be consumed to balance the three doshas and the seven dhatus. To make these herbs more palatable, a decoction (with water) is made, which is then mixed with a sugar syrup. This herbal mixture is then dried, leading to formation of sugar granules and resulting in a good tasting, potent herbal granular preparation.
This delicious, mildly sour spread is made from Amla fruits (Emblica officinalis). Although sour in taste, Amla is considered in Ayurveda to have an antacid effect. Amla Jam balances Vata, Pitta and Kapha, Rasayan (rejuvenating). Ideal for use against heartburn, migraine and headaches.
Recommended use: 1-2 tsp daily either spread on bread or on its own
